Kindling a Home of Cohesion

Have you ever wondered how to mix different wood stains and paint in the same space?

We recently did that in one of our client’s new home addition. Their existing house has lots of unique wood tones mixed with different paint colors and they wanted to add that flavor into their addition space. The different wood species that were used throughout their addition were cherry, pine, oak, alder, and acacia. The paint color we used throughout the addition so that the spaces flowed from room to room was Sherwin Williams Magnetic Gray- this color acts as a neutral backdrop and does a good job at emphasizing the different wood tones.

This client chose cherry cabinets with rustic details that added an interesting perspective and created a nice contrast against the acacia LVP floor. We mixed different countertop materials- Granite around the perimeter of the kitchen, and Quartz on the island. The Alder pantry door fit right in with the aesthetic, as the client wanted it to softly say “I’m different”- you would’ve never guessed it was an afterthought! The gray subway tile is a classic backdrop that adds pattern around the kitchen. Black lighting and hardware are the finishing touches in this fresh kitchen.

The client’s goal for the bathroom was for it to look and feel bright and clean- a nice contrast to the wood tones throughout the rest of the home. We went with painted trim and cabinets in this space. Gray countertops help to warm up the bathroom and pull out the veining color in the LVT floor. Also- who wouldn’t want a large vanity with a long mirror for getting ready in the morning?! Onyx on the shower floor makes cleaning a breeze and feels smooth on your feet. Gray tile on the shower walls elevates the shower’s size and feels so warm and elegant- like stepping into a spa. The shower niche is a unique feature with its length and glass tiles running vertically up and down the back- so much room for shower necessities! Of course, chrome accessories and hardware were a must to complete this bathroom look.

Other features to note in this home:

  • Vaulted ceiling with oak beams

  • Walk-in closet with wall mounted built-in shelving

  • Good sized Kitchen corner panty

  • Large patio with stone fireplace.
